This policy sets out the rules for acceptable conduct on the Wayfield platform. It applies to all users — organizers, leaders, and participants alike.
1. Purpose
Wayfield exists to connect people with creative education — to help organizers share their expertise, leaders facilitate meaningful sessions, and participants grow through workshops. This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) defines the boundaries of acceptable behavior on the platform so that it remains a safe, trustworthy, and productive environment for everyone.
This AUP forms part of your agreement with Wayfield, Inc. and should be read alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. By using Wayfield, you agree to comply with this policy.
2. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited on Wayfield, regardless of your role on the platform:
Illegal Content or Activities
- Posting, transmitting, or facilitating any content or activity that violates applicable local, national, or international law.
- Using the platform to conduct, promote, or facilitate illegal transactions of any kind.
- Distributing content that is defamatory, obscene, or otherwise unlawful under the laws of Minnesota, United States.
Harassment, Hate Speech, and Discrimination
- Harassing, threatening, intimidating, or bullying any other user, whether through messages, reviews, or workshop content.
- Posting content that promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against any person or group based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, nationality, or any other protected characteristic.
- Using abusive, offensive, or threatening language in any part of the platform, including workshop descriptions, session chat, or reviews.
Spam and Unsolicited Communications
- Sending unsolicited bulk messages, promotional content, or spam to other users through any platform feature.
- Using contact information obtained through Wayfield to send marketing communications outside the platform without explicit consent.
- Creating listings, reviews, or content primarily for the purpose of advertising or promoting external services unrelated to the workshop.
Fraudulent Workshops and False Information
- Creating workshop listings that misrepresent the nature, content, location, or quality of the sessions offered.
- Collecting payment for workshops that you do not intend to deliver or that materially differ from their description.
- Submitting false reviews or ratings, or incentivizing others to submit false reviews.
- Providing false credentials, qualifications, or experience to attract participants.
Scraping and Reverse Engineering
- Scraping, crawling, or extracting data from the Wayfield platform by automated means without our express written permission.
- Attempting to decompile, reverse engineer, or access the platform’s source code or underlying systems.
- Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with the platform in ways not explicitly permitted.
Circumventing Security Measures
- Attempting to bypass, disable, or circumvent any authentication, access control, or security feature of the platform.
- Probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of any Wayfield system or network without authorization.
- Attempting to access accounts, data, or systems that do not belong to you.
- Using the platform in a way that could damage, disable, or impair its security or integrity.
Impersonation
- Impersonating any person — including other users, Wayfield staff, or public figures — or any organization.
- Creating a false impression that you are affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized to speak on behalf of Wayfield or any third party.
- Using another person’s account without their authorization.
Intellectual Property Infringement
- Uploading, distributing, or making available any content that infringes the copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other intellectual property rights of any third party.
- Reproducing or distributing workshop materials created by other organizers or leaders without their express permission.
- Removing or altering copyright notices or other proprietary markings on any content.
Interference with Platform Operation
- Transmitting viruses, malware, ransomware, or any other malicious code through the platform.
- Conducting denial-of-service (DoS) or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks against the platform or its infrastructure.
- Taking any action that imposes an unreasonable or disproportionate load on the platform’s infrastructure.
- Interfering with the proper working of the platform for other users.
3. Organizer-Specific Obligations
In addition to the general prohibitions above, organizers have specific obligations that reflect their greater role and responsibility on the platform:
- Accurate descriptions: Workshop titles, descriptions, images, schedules, locations, and leader profiles must accurately represent what participants will receive. Material changes must be communicated to enrolled participants promptly.
- Local law compliance: Organizers must ensure their workshops comply with all applicable laws in the jurisdictions where sessions take place, including health and safety regulations, insurance requirements, and any sector-specific licensing.
- Refund commitments: Organizers must honor the refund policy displayed on their workshop listing at the time of booking. Refusing valid refund requests or attempting to circumvent refund obligations is a violation of this policy.
- Fair treatment of leaders: Organizers must not use the platform to exploit or mistreat leaders, including failing to pay agreed fees or misrepresenting the terms of engagement.
- No off-platform diversion: Organizers must not use Wayfield primarily to identify participants and then divert future bookings to off-platform channels to avoid platform fees, while continuing to use Wayfield’s discovery and marketing tools.
4. Participant-Specific Obligations
Participants also have specific obligations that ensure workshops function well for everyone:
- Respectful conduct: Participants must treat organizers, leaders, and fellow participants with respect at all times — both within the platform and at in-person or virtual sessions. Disruptive behavior that affects the experience of others is not tolerated.
- Attendance and cancellation commitments: Participants who book a session are expected to attend or to cancel within the organizer’s stated cancellation window. Repeated no-shows without cancellation are a violation of this policy.
- Honest reviews: Reviews and feedback must be genuine, based on your actual experience, and free from personal attacks. Reviews must not be submitted in exchange for payment, discounts, or other incentives.
- Payment obligations: Participants must not attempt to obtain sessions without payment, reverse payments fraudulently, or abuse the chargeback or dispute process.
5. Enforcement
Wayfield takes violations of this policy seriously. When we identify or receive a report of a potential violation, we will investigate and may take one or more of the following actions, at our sole discretion:
- Warning: Issuing a formal warning to the user explaining the violation and expected behavior.
- Content removal: Removing listings, reviews, messages, or other content that violates this policy.
- Temporary suspension: Temporarily restricting access to some or all platform features.
- Permanent ban: Permanently terminating the user’s account and preventing future registration.
- Financial remedies: Withholding payouts, reversing transactions, or pursuing recovery of losses caused by fraudulent activity.
- Referral to authorities: Reporting serious violations — including fraud, criminal activity, or threats of violence — to law enforcement or regulatory bodies.
The severity of enforcement action will be proportionate to the nature of the violation. However, serious or repeated violations — particularly those involving fraud, harassment, or illegal activity — may result in immediate permanent termination without prior warning.
6. Reporting Violations
If you witness behavior that you believe violates this policy, please report it to our trust and safety team at abuse@wayfieldapp.com. Please include as much detail as possible, including the relevant user, workshop, or content, and a description of the violation.
We investigate all reports in good faith and will take appropriate action. To protect the privacy of both reporters and the reported parties, we do not disclose the details of specific enforcement actions.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the platform, our services, or applicable law. Material changes will be communicated by email or via a platform notice. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
